Use Attainability Analysis

As discussed above, MDE’s CWA programs and authorities are designed to protect and/or restore Maryland waters to achieve WQSs. In some cases this may not be possible and the CWA does allow jurisdictions to change the designated uses of a waterbody to an achievable standard. Any proposed UAA must undergo a robust analytical and public participation process for MDE to consider adopting related changes into its WQSs.
