The EPA Assessment grants are an essential tool for redevelopment projects. Investors and funders require current environmental studies, dating no more than 6 to 12 months, and in long, complicated projects, multiple study refreshes could be necessary. Without the assistance of the EPA Assessment grant, we would have faced difficulty funding the final refresh needed to complete our project capital stack.

—Heather Hudson, Unleash Tygart, Grafton, WV

The kind of assessment that was completed is critical in the early stages of a project like this, and helped tremendously in framing the scope of work, developing cost estimates, and securing the financing needed. Our project is now under construction, and Brownfields played a significant role in making that happen.
