DNR Power Plant Research Program

The Power Plant Research Program (PPRP), part of the Maryland Department of Natural Resources (DNR), functions to ensure that Maryland meets its electricity demands at reasonable costs while protecting the State's valuable natural resources. It provides a continuing program for evaluating electric generation issues and recommending responsible, long-term solutions. PPRP is responsible for managing a Consolidated Review of all issues related to power generation in Maryland to balance needs, costs and impacts.

The department is one of seven state agencies that reviews power plant proposals for consistency with state laws and regulations.
