Save The Date

"Contingency Planning and Resilient Boards"

Monday, November 9

The Maryland Planning Commissioners Association (MPCA) Conference offers Planning Commissioners, Board of Appeals members, and anyone interested in citizen planning an opportunity to learn, share experiences, and exchange ideas. Preliminary Program

The 37th annual conference will offer topics of interest to the more than 1,400 citizen planners serving Maryland's counties and municipalities. The 2020 conference agenda is subject to change, but session topics include:

  • Open Meetings Act Training
  • Virtual Planning During a Pandemic
  • Designing for Pandemics
  • Maryland’s Climate Change Adaptation Framework
  • Continuity Planning for State and Local Boards

A detailed agenda and session descriptions are also available in the draft program.

The MPCA is partnering with the Maryland Department of Planning to develop a few sessions that will be eligible to earn AICP CM Credits.

The MPCA would like to thank the City of Westminster, which had agreed to host the 37th conference. While this year's conference will be digital, the MPCA cherishes its partnerships with Maryland's communities and looks forward to bringing another conference to Westminster.

2020 Conference Sponsorship Information

The MPCA conducts regular regional workshops around the state, develops educational materials and best practices for citizen planners, and establishes and maintains a support network for new and experienced planning commissioners. However, its premier event is the annual fall conference!

The MPCA conference attracts a broad array of people involved in planning, economic, and community development in Maryland. Citizen and professional planners will join consultants, elected officials, and state representatives; engaging in a dialogue about shared responsibilities, distinct but collaborative roles, and systems for efficient planning.

Sponsors are provided an opportunity to communicate with and inform a diverse cross-section of individuals engaged in planning in Maryland. The MPCA is an organization of volunteers and planning advocates, and its modest sponsorship requests reflect the desire to bring everyone involved in this work to the table.
