Maryland Economic Census Explorer

The data presents changes between the 2017 and 2022 Economic Census by industry. The dashboard focuses on 2-digit NAICS sectors and selected industry breakdowns for Professional, Scientific, and Technical Services and Health Care and Social Assistance.

Four economic measures are included: number of establishments, number of employees, annual payroll, and revenue.

• Number of establishments refers to the count of business locations operating within an industry.
• Number of employees refers to paid employees working for those establishments.
• Annual payroll represents total yearly wages, salaries, and other compensation paid to employees.
• Revenue represents total sales, receipts, or operating revenue reported by businesses.

Dollar-based 2017 values are adjusted to 2022 constant dollars.
