If you are interested in obtaining tax maps as digital .TIF tax map images, call (410) 767-1420 or fax your order form to place a credit card order - digital tax map images can only be ordered via credit card. Digital tax map images are $10.00 per map, which includes processing, or $5.00 per map if you order 50 or more images. The images are not georeferenced; they include legend and border information. Images are sent via email or on DVD via First Class USPS mail at no additional charge depending on total file size. You must have a valid email address that allows you to receive attachments in order to receive digital tax map files via email.
Tax maps, also known as assessment maps, property maps or parcel maps, are a graphic representation of real property showing and defining individual property boundaries in relationship to contiguous real property. The primary purpose of these maps is to help State tax assessors locate properties for assessments and taxation purposes. Tax maps are also used by federal, State and local government agencies as well as private sector firms for a variety of analyses and decision making processes.

The Property Mapping Section, part of the Maryland Department of Planning's Planning Data Services (PDS) division, is responsible for maintaining electronic tax maps and generating paper tax maps for the 23 counties in Maryland. MDP does not maintain tax maps for Baltimore City. The State's 2800+ county tax maps are managed in a Computer Aided Design (CAD) environment and updated on an annual cycle using new property plats and deed changes obtained from the State Department of Assessments and Taxation (SDAT). The electronic tax maps form the foundation for many of MDP's products and services, including MdProperty View, FINDER and FINDER Online. MDP’s Property Mapping Section has maintained tax maps for the Maryland State Department of Assessments and Taxation since July of 1996. New parcels and subdivision lots are added every year to each county set of tax maps, and each property in a county is linked to its new SDAT assessments database record during the annual update cycle. In recent years, as Property Mapping Section staff resources permit, MDP has worked with several counties to improve portions of the county tax maps by using aerial photography as it becomes available. The first areas to be improved are usually in incorporated towns or densely developed areas. The newly remapped areas of a county thus provide an improved, and more accurate, base tax map for use in MDP's DVD and online products and for use by SDAT, other government and business stakeholders and the general public. |

An Important Note about Town Maps
MDP’s paper tax maps are typically printed at a 600 foot per inch scale in non-town areas, where parcels and lots are usually larger. In incorporated town areas, more detailed blow-up maps that show the smaller properties at a readable size are typically available at a 200 foot per inch scale. The properties included on these smaller scale maps are often not included on larger scale panels.

How Do I Order Paper Tax Maps?
Paper tax maps are $25.00 per map, which includes processing, shipping and handling. If you order paper tax maps for an entire county, the price is $5.00 per map. Maps can be ordered online via our easy-to-use Maryland Tax Map Ordering System, or via fax, mail or phone.
Why Order Online?
Online ordering offers significant advantages over ordering by fax or mail if you don’t know or aren’t sure of the exact tax map you need. The online Maryland Tax Map Ordering System allows you to search for tax maps by county, and within a county, you can search by street address, parcel account number or map reference (MAP and PARCEL number). The online system can help you pinpoint the area you are interested in, and help further refine your search so you get the paper tax maps you need.
You can also add State Highway Administration roads, the county boundary and/or the county tax map grid to the online view as you order, to further ensure that you order the correct paper tax maps for your area of interest.
